Camp Invention

Last week was crazy around here.  The three older kids had week long camps that required me to be in 2 places at once.  Add in Sweet Pea's therapy, and I needed to be in 3 places at once.  So thankful for my niece who was willing to help drive =)

Junior spent the week at Camp Invention.  This was the perfect camp for him, because he got to take things apart and then use the pieces to make other things.

The first two days were spent taking items apart the correct way- that's right, smashing them with a hammer is NOT the right way to take things apart.

Then the next couple days were spent learning all sorts of scientific stuff (getting Junior to talk about it was like trying to pull teeth lol!).

The last day I finally got to see what he was working on...

As part of a team, they had to build a pinball, er pinbug, machine.  The requirements for this were pretty simple.  Two flippers, one plunger, six targets and it had to work.  I think the multiple rolls of duct tape were optional =)

Then they got to build a motorized car.  The car had to make it over/ through two of three obstacles.  A ramp that would launch the car into the air- it had to fly, an incline to climb up and underwater.  Junior's car only made it through one of the three obstacles- up the incline.  He decided not to run it in the water, because it would ruin the motor =)

He had a lot of fun and is looking forward to going back next year...  When he's determined that his pinbug machine will work without all the duct tape and his car will make it through the obstacles.
