A Sense of Humor

You've heard that laughter is the best medicine, right?

If that's the case, then Kelli and I are some of the healthiest people around.  Anytime we talk, we end up laughing about something.

Lately, it's been about my choice in fashion.

See, now that I'm living out in the middle of nowhere in a camper.  And starting to homestead and homeschooling, Kelli seems to think I need the stereotypical homeschool wardrobe.

Yup, a denim jumper.  And depending on what socks and shoes I wear with it, I can go from mucking out the chicken coop to church without having to change =)

I told her I was very excited to see a jumper in my size at the local consignment shop.

Vomit

Conversations with my husband.
Me: "I have to write the Monday post for tomorrow.  Give me a Miscellaneous Monday topic."
Hubs: "Write about vomit.  Everybody here is puking so write about it."
Anna: "Scream."  Pulls on my legs, throws self on floor.
Me: "Nobody wants to know all of our kids except Dylan are puking.  I need something funny, or inspirational, or something.  I know I'll write about Crossfit, that's something cool."
Theme song to Phineas and Ferb plays in the background.  Hubs is grinding coffee.  Anna runs into the kitchen with a toddler potty that I have stored in the bathroom cabinet and proceeds to start stacking the kids cups in it.
Hubs: "People want to know about you too, keep it real.  We woke up this morning and three out of four got sick, oh and we had the Berger boys here too.  Yeah, tell them about Kamron throwing up all over the walls; that's a great story.  Tell people how great I am and cleaned up most of the vomit because you gag at the thought of vomit."
Me: "I think I should go for a run and get some good ideas."
Hubs: "If you leave me here alone to go for a run, I get to go to a coffee shop."
Me: "Okay, fine.  I think I will write about vomit."
Hubs: "Yeah, okay.  I look forward to seeing what you come up with."
More Phineas and Ferb songs.  Anna is now twirling in circles.
I sit down and write this dialogue out because my husband doesn't think I will.
So yes, I have kept it real.  This was my Sunday morning that you get to read about on Monday...unless Lynette reads it and tells me, "No WAY!"  However, she's probably cracking up right now, because hey; we've ALL been there, right???

Freese Kid 4ce Interview

My kids wanted to do a blog post and since three of them can't read yet, I decided it would be better to interview them.  None of them have been coached on what to say, remember that as you read!

What do you like to do?
Kamron (age 8): "I like to play with Legos, ride my Wiggle Racer, ride my bike, and jump on the trampoline."
Dylan (age 4): "I like to talk in alien talk.  (He then proceeds to talk in gibberish).  That is translated into jump on the trampoline, I like to crash my bike but then Daddy ran over the back wheel because I left it hiding behind the car.  I like to play Starfall.com and run around in circles.
Ryan (age 4): I like to do 100 jumping jacks and count them.  I also like to do box jumps because you can't Mom.  I sometimes like to play with my dog but sometimes she runs too fast and I can't catch her.  I also like to play with my Legos, Superman, and blocks.

Do you like to play video games?  Which ones?
Kamron: "Mario, Batman, Star Wars, bike racing, helicopter parachuting, sword fighting, archery, and that frisbee game."
Dylan:  "Star Wars on the Wii, sword fighting, Mario Kart, and Monster Jam!"
Ryan:  "Monster Jam!!!  Oh and Toy Story, sword fighting, and bike racing."

Do you play video games everyday?
Kamron: "No, Wii's are for the weekend.  Mom, did you forget that?"
Ryan: "No, that would be silly!"
Dylan: "What?  People do that?"

What do you like to eat?
Kamron: "Chicken Fried Rice, hamburgers without the bun, green beans, baked potatoes, stir fry, and eggs with sweet potatoes that are a quiche."
Dylan: "Brussell Sprouts!  Taco soup, cheeseburgers without the bun but with cheese on it, apples, watermelon, oranges, strawberries, blueberries, salad, and olives."
Ryan: "Apples! I like apples!!!!  Scrambled eggs, oranges, chicken legs, chicken and dumplings, and popcorn."

What is your favorite snack?
Kamron:  "Trail Mix"
Dylan: "Strawberries and Blueberries"
Ryan: "Strawberries without the blueberries; I give my blueberries to Dylan because he's weird."

What do you want everybody to know about eating healthy?
Kamron: "Eating healthy is really good because it gets you bigger muscles like Wolverine and Captain America.  It doesn't taste gross, it tastes good."
Dylan: "It makes you strong and you won't get sick!"
Ryan: "Healthy is good for you, like Superman!"

So there you have it, that is my interview with the three of my kids that can talk.  Anna was busy twirling in circles and getting into whatever she could find during this time.

Government Adjusts Weight System to Help Country Lose Pounds

WASHINGTON DC, APRIL 1--

Alarmed by a growing obesity rate across the country over the last decade, the United States Government has instituted sweeping changes in its system of measurements and weights.

The most significant change involves increasing the value of the pound. One current pound will be valued as 1.1 pounds under the new system. What does this mean? Fewer pounds per person. For example, a person who previously weighed 167 pounds would now weigh just 152 pounds.

"We think these changes will help the country solve its obesity problem," said April Wahn, Community Director of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). "When eating right and exercising don’t work, these new standards can help people reach a healthier weight. It’s not the only answer, but it’s a start."

To underscore this point, Wahn estimates that this change alone would bring the number of overweight Americans down dramatically, from 63% to 49%.

To help people adjust, the US Office of Weights and Standards will make available scale calibration kits that can be used to bring any scale in line with the new standards. You can call 1-800-000-0401 to receive your free kit.

Consumer groups are responding to this change with enthusiasm. One local news editorial claimed, "It’s about time the government stepped in and did something about the country’s weight problem. It needs to be fixed – and quick." 10,000 scale calibration kits have already been distributed. But the biggest challenges in retail packaging, fishing regulations, and newborn weighing still remain.

"This isn’t going to be something we can incorporate overnight," continued Wahn. "It could take years and millions and millions of dollars. But in the face of unhealthy weight levels, we’re running out of options."

Wahn refused to comment on the growing opinion that numbers on the scale are becoming increasingly unimportant in the creation of a healthy lifestyle.

In related news, Happy April Fool's Day!

I saw this on Facebook and couldn't help but chuckle.  It is Monday morning, AGAIN and we all need to laugh and have a great day!
